Qigong, sometimes referred to as "Chinese yoga" or "moving meditation", is often found in the internal arts of China. It involves the coordination of specific postures and motions that bring a stronger connection between the mind and body. Qigong also focuses on developing and balancing Chi, the inherent energy of the Chinese acupuncture system.
These exercises have been organized into a specifically focused format aimed at restoring optimum posture. Much like braces straighten crooked teeth, qigong adjusts muscles and ligaments to their ideal length and tension. Organs assume their ideal pressure and temperature. The nervous system relaxes and people begin to accrue reserves of energy, all leading to a more relaxed and healthier mind and body.
Our approach to Qigong is derived from the internal movements found in the Chinese art of Wing Chun. A new, free-form method of Qigong, it unifies the traditional internal principles of body alignment with a philosophy that embodies the inherent connection between ourselves and the environment around us. It encompasses a vision of oneness in which each person is seen as part of a whole and directs a return to our natural and more innate sense of being. And yet, as each exercise is practiced over and over again for health and peace of mind, their inherent applications for self-defense will ultimately be revealed.
Qigong is for everyone - regardless of physical ability. Everyone can benefit from these health exercises.
